Questions

Booking & payment
Is the booking form a checkout?
No. It is a request. We check the date is genuinely free with the guide who would run it, confirm the price, and only then send a payment link. Nothing is charged when you submit the form.
How far ahead should I book?
Two days is our minimum and it is tight. A week is comfortable for most experiences. For San Andrés in December–January or Easter week, and for anything involving a private boat or a multi-day VIP itinerary, six to eight weeks is realistic.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before a single experience. Multi-day VIP packages have a staged policy because we commit to hotels and internal flights on your behalf — it is set out in full in the booking terms and repeated in your confirmation email before you pay.
What currency will I actually be charged in?
US dollars or Colombian pesos. Every other currency on this site is a conversion for display only, using a reference rate — your card issuer sets the rate you actually pay, and it will differ slightly.
Do you take group bookings?
Yes, up to the maximum shown on each experience. Beyond that we split into parallel groups with separate guides rather than putting forty people behind one person with a raised umbrella.
Tipping & the donation programme
Is tipping expected?
No. Our guides are paid a full day rate agreed before your trip, so a tip is not topping up anyone’s income. The tip field is never pre-filled and choosing nothing changes nothing about your day.
Really 100% of tips?
Yes — tips are held separately from trading income and are not used for wages, card fees or overheads. We absorb the processing fee on the tip portion so the amount that leaves is the amount you gave. 20% of the pool is ring-fenced for children's programmes; the rest is split across community, conservation and guide-training funds.
Is my tip tax-deductible?
No, and be wary of any travel company that says otherwise. You are paying a travel company which then donates. That is a real transfer but it is not a gift from you to a registered charity, and no tax authority will treat it as one.
Can I see where my specific tip went?
You can see the pool and period it went into, with totals, partner organisations and transfer references. You cannot trace an individual tip to an individual outcome, and nobody honestly can — money is fungible. We report periods, because that is what is actually true.
Can I visit a project I have helped fund?
Not one involving children, no. We do not run visits to children’s homes or programmes as a tourist activity, and we will not introduce you to a child as the child you helped. The evidence that this harms children is settled. Community and conservation partners are a different matter — ask us.
Safety & practicalities
Is Colombia safe?
For the kind of trip we run, largely yes — and it is a big country with real problems, so the honest answer is "in these places, with these precautions". Every destination page on this site lists the specific risks for that city, including the ones that would put you off. Read those rather than a national verdict.
What about Bogotá’s altitude?
2,640 m is high enough to notice. Take day one slowly, drink more water than feels necessary, go easy on alcohol the first night. We deliberately schedule light first days. If you have a cardiac or pulmonary condition, are pregnant, or have sickle cell trait, speak to your doctor first and tell us.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, it is a condition of booking with us. Check it covers the activities you have booked — diving, paragliding, canyoning and motorbike hire are commonly excluded as standard — and that it covers medical evacuation, which matters on San Andrés.
Can I dive and fly on the same day?
No. Leave at least 18 hours between your last dive and any flight, and 24 is safer after multi-day diving. We schedule dive days early in a trip specifically so this never becomes a problem, but it does constrain your last day.
Do your guides speak English?
Yes, on every experience listed. Spanish, and Creole English on San Andrés, are the first languages of most of our team. Other languages can usually be arranged for private bookings with notice.
I have limited mobility. What can I do?
More than you might expect, and less than the catalogue implies. Bogotá’s museums and Medellín’s Metrocable are straightforward; Comuna 13, El Peñol’s 740 steps and most boat transfers are not. Tell us the specifics in the booking notes and we will tell you honestly what works.
Medical travel
Are you a clinic?
No. We are a travel and logistics company. We do not practise medicine, employ clinicians, or give medical advice. Care is delivered by independently licensed Colombian providers who make their own clinical decisions and carry their own responsibility for them.
Can you guarantee a result?
No, and we will not imply one. Anyone in this industry promising you an outcome is telling you something they cannot know. Every physician-led service we coordinate starts with an assessment by a licensed doctor who may tell you that you are not a candidate.
What if something goes wrong after I fly home?
This is the hardest part of medical travel and the part most operators skate over. We insist on an aftercare plan agreed before you travel, including who manages complications at home. Read the medical travel section in full — it is deliberately more cautious than the marketing norm.
