Offshore Sport Fishing

4 hoursMax 6Moderate

Before you book this one

Priced per boat rather than per person — the figure shown is indicative and we quote on group size and duration. Protected species are released. Open water gets rough beyond the reef; take something for seasickness before you leave the dock, not after.

Out past the reef into blue water for wahoo, mahi-mahi, tuna and barracuda, with a skipper who has fished these banks his whole life. Catch and release, or the boat cooks it for you.

What you do

  • Trolling the drop-offs beyond the barrier reef
  • Wahoo, mahi-mahi, yellowfin and barracuda
  • All tackle, bait and licences included
  • Your catch cooked ashore, if you want it

As a private booking

Full-day private charter, further offshore to the banks, with a chef preparing the catch that evening.

Practical notes for San Andrés

  • You need a tourist card to fly here. Every visitor buys a Tarjeta de Turismo at the departure airport before boarding — Colombians included. Keep it; you need it to leave. Budget roughly US$30 and confirm the current price when you book.
  • This is Raizal land. The islands have their own Afro-Caribbean Raizal people, language and Baptist church tradition, distinct from mainland Colombia. Residency is legally restricted to protect it. Learn the difference — it is the most interesting thing about the place.
