Underground, cool and humid, with a long ramped descent and return. Not ideal if you are strongly claustrophobic. Still at 2,650 m — the altitude does not stop underground.
A cathedral carved 180 metres underground inside a working salt mine, with fourteen stations of the cross cut into the rock and a cross lit so that it appears to float in the dark. Genuinely unlike anything else.
Private vehicle, an early entry ahead of the coaches, and lunch in Zipaquirá rather than at a roadside stop.

A 220-metre granite monolith with 740 steps zigzagging up its face, and from the top an archipelago of flooded green valleys that looks unreal. Then Guatapé itself, where every building carries a painted zócalo panel.
